following my last - the date is confirmed as 24-26 February 2012, at Middlewood campsite. If anyone is interested in coming, let me know.
Just for info for anyone who's interested and not on FB...

The Rome player event will be one of two weekends, the 24-26th Feb 2012, or the 2nd-4th Mar 2012. I pinned those two down after getting bored juggling calendars. Sadly, I know at least one person cant make either date, but equally sadly I was never going to be able to suit everyone.

The site will be Middlewood. Not my favourite site, I dislike it for no real reason I can put my finger on, but have been roundly outvoted.
I have 2 spaces in my car for Odyssey - anyone want to car share?
It occurs to me that not everyone uses the evil Facebook so may not have seen the link to Dave's Odyssey photos. They are at

My facebook account appears to have been hacked today, someone associated a random email address and tried to change my password. I believe I have regained control. If anyone sees anything weird from me, please let me know?

Cheers,
regarding the film 'Love Actually'. I dont think I've ever watched the whole thing stone cold sober before (penicillin and booze dont mix well), and so I had never quite noticed just how cringe making the nativity play scene at the end is, especially the bits with the bad singing... *shudder*
For anyone who hasnt seen this on facebook. Beth has booked a site for a player event

"Liberty & Lycanthropes: A Player Event, is being held 23rd - 25th September at Whitwell Hall, Norfolk. Everyone is welcome. Booking forms will be going out shortly. I really need at least 30 players because I'll cry if I don't get my deposit on the hall back."
House stuff is moving. We have to buy out the freehold which is a real pain in the arse. Here's hoping it doesnt take too long.

New job is good. I'm quite busy which is a welcome change from the last year or so at Interserve. Northgate seem to know what to do with a service manager which is good. I feel like my skills are actually going to be relevant, another welcome change. Another welcome change is flexible working. Northgate's education division doesn't have offices in England, and although we can use other Northgate offices, it doesnt appear common to do so. Instead, people work from home, and meetings happen in cafes and bars. On Thursday I worked out of the cafe at the gym for a while before going to a meeting in a hotel bar - and none of my colleagues think this is unusual in any way. Homeworking is also very common. I find this refreshing, especially as it allows me to manage my diary in a way that means I can be home with David and Eddie more. It also appears that they understand how to manage new people in - let them get on with it but support them.

This coming week I will be away 3 nights, home Thursday night. :-)

LRP: Still not sure if I can make Crusades. 1st April is phase one go live so working from home that day might not be possible. I want to go as I haven't LRPed since WITW and haven't hit things since Odyssey. Looking forward to M&M as well. I am also looking forward to Victoriana, but need a more detailed character concept than 'cross dressing sapphic'. I may also need to re watch Tipping The Velvet...

OU: finished the 10 pointer in Law, just waiting for results. Social Sciences course part 2 is better than part 1 but still has irritations Sociology is only one of the social sciences but has too much emphasis on the course, especially as it is such a bollocks discipline. On balance I should have gone straight to level 2. ;-)

OU stuff

I got my first TMA back today, and was pleased with a score of 90%. Its just a shame this one doesnt count for the overall course mark. :-) The tutor's comments included a remark that it was rare to see work this good this early one. Of course, my educational background is rather different to a lot of people on the course, which does make a difference - I already have experience with essay writing, using evidence, referencing, etc.

At least I can get on with the second TMA now, as I wanted to wait...

Doggy...

I combed half a dog's worth of hair out of Eddie this evening. Its winter. But he is *still* moulting all over the settee when I stroke him! Doggy bath time methinks...

Question

Oct. 26th, 2010 10:20 pm
Anyone have any ideas for a christening present for a baby girl? She's my cousin's baby. Ideally I want something vaguely permanent that she might still like in 15-20 years time.

Amused..

Why I have I thought of this now I do not know, but I just remembered that a while back someone called me 'intellectual'. Apparently it was an insult, although I declined to take it as such.

Essay

Oct. 7th, 2010 06:20 pm
After a bit of reworking, essay mark 2 is clearly the better one in terms of the actual question. So I'm calling time and going with what I have, just add references and general word structure stuff.
I am probably over thinking this essay. Its a simple 'describe' question with only 750 words and I think I'm over analysing it. I have 2 versions, one which is better but probably too analytical, and one which is probably more what they want but feels less good to me. But at least I'm not posting on the forum asking dumb arse questions that are answered in the films that start the course!
As ways of being dumped go "Sorry, I will love you forever but I have to return to my dying people because I am the only person who can cure them" has a certain something. Much better than "I think we should see other people" or "Its just not working out".

Sad that someone died, but honestly even in the dark, the difference between a road and a body of water should be pretty obvious.
